Overview

Waves is a digital platform that allows music lovers and fans to engage with music in new ways. By having the unique opportunity to interact with their favourite beat producers and purchasing their music.

Introduction

In a time when digital ownership is becoming more popular, Waves is a ground-breaking platform that transforms the way people find and acquire rare beats by utilising Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). Waves offers music lovers a special chance to possess exclusive digital assets that represent uncommon and priceless musical compositions.

Market Research

We began the journey by conducting extensive market research to better understand the changing landscape of digital music consumption and ownership. We studied the growing popularity of NFTs and discovered a unique opportunity to apply this technology in the music industry. We also learnt about music collectors' preferences and behaviour through user surveys and interviews, revealing a high demand for exclusive and rare content.

Ideation and Concept Development

We focused on creating a captivating user experience and robust infrastructure for NFT transactions. By designing an intuitive interface for browsing, purchasing, and trading NFTs. Implementing smart contract technology to ensure the security and authenticity of NFT transactions. Conducting beta testing with a select group of users to gather feedback and refine the platform's features.

Testing and Iteration

To test the idea and get input from possible users, prototypes were created. Important features like uploading beats, listing them as NFTs, and enabling transactions were the focus of the first prototype. User testing sessions were conducted to assess usability, pinpoint issues, and obtain input for future iterations.

Outcome and Impact

In the beginning, Waves benefited greatly from a grant from Flow Blockchain. The team was able to increase operations, broaden technical capabilities, and accelerate development efforts thanks to the grant, which provided crucial financial support. The grant assisted in defraying the cost of the marketing campaign, server infrastructure, and software development.

Reflections and Lesson Learned

Resource limitations hindered the development and launch phases, despite the team's best efforts; this led to delays and compromises in platform functionality and marketing. Waves' journey, despite its share of challenges, is a worthwhile educational experience because it illustrates the opportunities and complexities that arise when technology, art, and commerce collide.
